Well, this isn’t how I imagined things would work out, but I had a feeling that I would have to face this. I just received an email from Japan:

Dear Tri,

KCP-Japan has significant reservations about accepting you while under treatment and observation by physicians. Fall is influenza time in Japan, as it is in the rest of the world. Under stress of the program, and possible illness, they do not feel this environment is best for you. They want you to defer your acceptance until after you have had the 12-month period of taking medication and being under observation of your physician. Our math suggests that this observation period
would end in March 2010, so perhaps you would consider attending in Spring, 2010.

I am so sorry Tri. I know this must be very disappointing. Please let me know if you want to defer acceptance, or cancel and attend a different school this Fall. I would however, encourage you to continue working with your doctor closely during this last few months of treatment and perhaps staying close to home until your program of treatment is over. Well my friends, while I go and cope with this absurd bullshit and stab someone and cry about it, please stay tune for more updates. I am sort of relieved that I am not going. This will give me more time to practice Japanese, make more money, and do other things that needed to be done, like seeing my girlfriend for example. So, at this point all I can say is: Japan, fuck you But you have not defeated me yet, I will get there and I will prove myself to you. The one thing I learned in Kendo, NEVER ever back down, and this samurai isn’t going to give up easily. No worries guys, this blog will survive, and I will now have time to make it all nice and fancy. See you all later.
