Californian Sky

you’re the sand glistening in the morning sun
blinding my eyes like brilliant diamonds
you’re the footprints left as we both run
chasing the waves back into the ocean

you’re the amber clouds that hang over us
as the rays try to shine their way through
you’re the sound of swaying seagrasses
as the morning breeze makes its first move

you’re that walk back home as the sun sets
when our eyes burn with the passion to come
you’re the soft whisper that leads to the kiss
telling me that I won’t have to wait long

you’re the first star on that Californian sky
as the moon says good bye to the sun
the leaves rustle beneath as we close our eyes
and I know…heaven has finally begun
